Distance: .4 miles
My rating: moderate
Mark and I hiked Moro Rock when we did a driving tour through the park. It’s less than 2 miles off the Generals Highway, so it’s an easy detour.
The parking lot at the base of the rock is small, so you may have to add on some distance and walk from up the road.
The hike is on rocks and is a fairly steep climb. Don’t let the short distance fool you – you’ll get your heart rate up. You’ll also be at over 6500 ft in elevation.
It’s a fairly narrow path with guard rails, but watch your step anyway. Those with height fears may find this nerve wracking.
The views at the top are great if the air quality is good. There are a few info boards at the top about air quality issues in the park.
Head back down the way you came.
You might as well hit up Tunnel Log and Crescent Meadow while your here. I am the literal “Bad Luck Bear” and I’m probably the only person who HASN’T seen a bear in Crescent Meadow.
